Around 1530 hours On August 13, 2015 Second Battalion companies were alerted for a dwelling fire at 5920 Moorehead Road in the Westview section of Baltimore County. Engine and Truck 13 from the Westview station were first to arrive and reported fire and smoke showing in the rear of the 1-story rancher. Companies quickly pulled handlines and began to attack the fire, most of which was in the rear on the exterior. Some fire got into the interior of the dwelling and other units made their way in to extinguish the fire in the rear room and check for extension into the walls and ceiling.
The bulk of the fire was contained and extinguished within 30 minutes. The occupants of the house got out before firefighters arrived and one needed treatment for minor smoke inhalation. As firefighters were working inside they located the family dog in a crate in the basement. They brought him outside where other firefighters gave him some oxygen and water. He was reunited with the family and seemed to be alright despite breathing in some smoke and being exposed to heat.
FID was requested to determine the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported in the one alarm blaze
