Just after 1:00PM on October 10, 2014 Howard County Dispatch began receiving 911 calls reporting heavy fire showing from the roof of a townhouse in the 9400 block of Woodsong Court in North Laurel. The fire box was dispatched and arriving units found a 2-story end of group townhouse with the rear fully involved from the basement level to the roof. The rear is 3 stories high as the basement is at the ground level. A task force was requested bringing more Howard County units as well as units from Prince Georges and Anne Arundel County.
Crews began an aggressive interior attack from the front of the two units involved and kept the fire contained to those two units with some minor damage to a third unit. It took 45 firefighters about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Crews remained on the scene for several more hours to mop up hot spots and assist Fire Investigators.
There were no injuries reported. Three adults were displaced from their homes and the Red Cross was on the scene to assist them.
