On Friday, September 2, 2022 it was a hot and muggy day in Baltimore. Around 1430 hours Fire Communications began receiving several calls reporting a dwelling fire in the 2100 block of Christian Street in the Carrollton Ridge area of southwest Baltimore. When units rolled up on the scene there was heavy smoke showing in the front side of the mostly vacant block of 2-story houses that were overgrown with heavy vegetation. Heavy fire was showing in the rear from 2 dwellings.
Due to the dilapidated conditions exterior operations were ordered from the start. Companies in the front began tearing into the boarded up windows and doors to gain access and hand lines and ladder pipes were used to throw water inside. Companies in the rear had fairly easy access to pour water inside. At 1432 a working fire assignment was requested bringing additional engines and a ladder truck to the scene.
Companies continued to pour water into the buildings creating smoke conditions throughout the neighborhood. The fire was declared under control at 1511 hours. Approximately 25 units with 75 personnel were on the scene. There were no injuries reported. FIB was requested to determine the cause.
