On December 17, 2022 a fatal accident occurred at the Sudsville 24 Hour Carwash in Catonsville located in the 5500 block of Baltimore National Pike. Around 2115 hours a 61 year old man drove his van into the car wash bay and got out of the vehicle. It was still in gear and moved forward. He attempted to get back in and stop it but hit the accelerator instead, driving it forward and pinning him against the wall with the wheels still spinning. This caused the vehicle to burst into flames trapping him there.
When firefighters arrived the vehicle was fully involved and the victim had perished in the resulting fire. It only took several minutes to put out the fire and Emergency Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Baltimore County Police along with the Fire Department were on the scene investigating the accident.
