On May 22, 2024 around 1315 hours Fire Box 40-74 was dispatched for a dwelling fire reported in the 2600 block of Royal Oak Avenue in the northwest Baltimore neighborhood of Hillsdale Park and sits right on the Baltimore County-City line. When units arrived there was heavy fire showing from the first and second floors of the 2 ½ story frame house. Exterior operations were set up immediately when they found out that the building was under renovation. All of the workers had safely evacuated the structure before the arrival of the Fire Department.
Battalion Chief 5, Joe Bloom, was in command and requested a working fire assignment at 1323 hours. Firefighters continued with exterior operations with portable monitors and handlines until the fire was placed under control an hour later. No injuries were reported and Fire Investigation was on the scene to determine the cause.
