On April 12, 2012 about 9:30PM fire box 30-11 was dispatched for a dwelling fire in the 300 block of Yale Avenue in the Irvington section of Baltimore. Medic 12 arrived first and reported a 2 ½ story frame dwelling fully involved. Truck 8 pulled up right after them and asked for a working fire assignment. The original building was fully involved and an occupied dwelling on Side D was starting to light off on the side and under the front porch. Truck 8 asked for a second alarm. Companies went to work setting up a ladder pipe for the first house and took large hand lines to begin the attack on the exposure’s porch.
They made a good knock on the porch fire and most of the fire between the two houses within 15 minutes. Companies then entered both exposures to check for extension.
They made a good stop on the fire and it was placed under control in an hour.
One civilian was checked out for injuries by a medic unit on the scene. Investigators were also called in to find the cause of the fire.
