On September 19, 2015, at 1110 hours, North County units were alerted for a building fire in the 200 block of West Maple Road, in Linthicum, just north of BWI Airport.
Engine 31 (Brooklyn), reported on the scene with a 4-story structure with fire showing on one end in the rear of the building. Truck 33 set up on the alpha-delta corner of the building for ladder pipe operations. Engine 31 placed their deck gun in operation to control the fire on the outside of the building.
Command requested a second alarm bringing more units from Anne Arundel, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City to the scene.
Crews operated in a defensive mode until it was safe to enter the structure and extinguish what remained of the fire. Crews started overhaul and salvage operations and did a secondary search, which proved negative.
Two firefighters were transported to the local hospital by land with minor injuries and were later released. There were no civilian injuries.
County Fire Investigators determined the cause to be arson and arrested a resident of the building at the scene.
Damages were set at $500,000.
