At about 1730 hours on May 20, 2009 Anne Arundel County Firefighters responded to a report of a dwelling fire located at 114 Pleasant Point Road in the Margate Community of Marley. First responding units saw a large column of smoke in the area of the address. When they arrived on location they found a 2-story single family house with the entire roof involved in heavy fire. They first entered the dwelling to attack the fire but were quickly evacuated when the roof started to fall in on the crew. The fire apparently started in the basement and traveled up the backside of the house setting the roof ablaze. The one-alarm fire was controlled in about an hour. No injuries were reported. Crews were on the scene for several hours mopping up and investigating the cause of the fire.
