On January 16, around 1100 Carroll County Firefighters were dispatched to a fire in a single family rancher in the Carroll Highlands development of Eldersburg. An off duty firefighter was on the scene reporting the fire was well involved and through the roof. Firefighters from Sykesville, Gamber, and Winfield arrived and began an interior attack on the fire which began in the sun room at the rear of the house. A second alarm was requested bringing mutual aid companies from Baltimore and Howard County.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes but not before substantial damage was done to the rear and roof. Damages were estimated at $200,000 to the structure and $20,000 to the contents.
No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene.
