On Thanksgiving morning a one car accident claimed the life of a 47 year old Baltimore man. About 0715 hours a 2003 Lincoln Towncar was traveling northbound on N. Paca St. when the driver lost control, drove onto the sidewalk and struck a tree before catapulting over two temporary 36” above ground sewer mains in the curb lane of the 500 block of W. Franklin St. While flying through the air the car then struck a utility pole on the corner and then crashed into the front of a building on the opposite side of the street landing on its side on the sidewalk.
Engine 23 and Medic 1 were initially dispatched. When they arrived on the scene they requested a full Rescue Assignment. As units arrived they began extrication of the victim. The man was removed from the vehicle in about 20 minutes. He was immediately removed and transported a few blocks to University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he died from his injuries.
Baltimore Police were on the scene investigating the cause of the accident. There were no other vehicles involved and the driver was the only occupant of the car.
