At 6:37 p.m. on Saturday November 29 units were dispatched to 4 Westbend Court, off Rolling Bend Drive near Security Square Mall, for a reported apartment fire at the Tuscany Woods Apartments. While en route, BC22 was notified by Fire Dispatch that 911 was receiving multiple calls for the fire. Units from BCoFD stations 3 and 13 arrived with heavy fire and smoke showing from the middle level and immediately requested a Working Fire Dispatch, which command upgraded to second and third alarms. Firefighters battled heavy fire on the second and third floors of a 3-story garden style building, with flames venting through the roof. Crews went into the building, battling the most intense fire in a bedroom area in one of the mid-level apartments. Firefighters successfully worked to keep the fire from spreading across the roof to adjacent buildings. As a result of their efforts, buildings #2 and #6 suffered minimal damage. The fire was brought under control after about 2 hours and the American Red Cross was on scene assisting five adults and five children who were displaced from their homes.
