On Tuesday, December 30, 2025 around 0830 Fire Communications received several reports of a building fire in the area of Fulton Avenue and Reisterstown Road in the Mondawmin area of northwest Baltimore. Engine 13 arrived within minutes and reported a vacant 2-story, middle of the group, storefront that was fully involved with fire through the roof at 2731 Pennsylvania Avenue. The building was obviously a Code X-Ray so exterior operations were started.
Battalion Chief 6 arrived and reported that the fire was blowing with gusting winds across the roofs of three buildings on side D and impinging on a 3-story building on side B and immediately requested the second alarm.
Companies set up their ladder pipes for aerial operations in the front and rear. He requested Tower 1 to set up on the front side of the buildings involved. The fire building was completely collapsed inside and firefighters made their way into both exposures to check for extension. There was some extension into the second floor of side D. A third alarm was requested for additional manpower at 0856.
The front and rear walls of the fire building collapsed while operating the ladder pipes. The fire was brought under control within 90 minutes. No injuries were reported and Fire Investigation was on the scene to determine the cause.
