Shortly after 5:00AM smoke was reported coming from a three-story brick building at 3309-15 West Garrison Boulevard. The first floor housed several storefront businesses. The second and third floors were boarded up vacant apartments.
The fire was heavily seated near the center of the second floor and firefighters initially were having trouble opening up and finding the fire due to the cut-up layout of the building. A second alarm was sounded at 5:24. Crews gaind control of the fire in about an hour and a half. No injuries were reported.
In the following two weeks several more suspicious fires were reported in the same building.
