DWELLING FIRE-BALTO. CITY 1-16-18
Shortly after 1700 hours on January 16, 2018 Third Battalion companies were dispatched to a dwelling fire located at 134 S. Morely Street in the Irvington section of southwest Baltimore. Engine 30 and Truck 8 were first on the scene and had a 2 ½ story frame house with heavy fire showing from the first and second floors. The siding on the house on Exposure B was starting to melt and the roof was starting to smolder.
Battalion Chief 3, Dante Stewart arrived and took Command and made it a working fire. First reports were that there may have been someone inside. The neighbors indicated that the home may have been an unofficial assisted living facility. A wheel chair was found at the rear door. Trucks 8 and 18 set up their ladder pipes as a precaution and firefighters operated hand lines from the exterior.
The blaze was brought under control within an hour and firefighters were able to enter the structure to search for victims and douse the remaining hot spots. No one was found inside. It was discovered that everyone had moved out of the house in the previous week.
Fire Investigation was requested to the scene to determine the cause. One firefighter was injured as a result of minor burns.
