Baltimore County Fire Chief Joseph Dixon was joined by Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier and other state and local elected officials as a traditional ground breaking ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 for a new fire station for Catonsville Company 4. The state-of-the-art station will sit on a 6-acre plot of land at 736 Edmondson Avenue that was purchased by Baltimore County in November, 2023.
The original station 4 is the oldest operating station in the county. It was built in 1928 and is located at 756 Frederick Road, in the heart of the Catonsville business district. The new station will cost $21.65 million and replace the present one in use. The old station is slated to become the Baltimore County Professional Firefighter Museum.
Fire Chief Dixon said “This makes an important milestone for our department and the community we serve.” The replacement of our oldest career fire station represents a critical investment in our fire and EMS crews, providing the additional space and modern facilities to support our life saving operations.”
Site preparation and construction should begin in the next few weeks.
