On Sunday, May 17, 2015, around noon Second Battalion companies were alerted for a dwelling fire at 3120 Karendale Circle in Woodlawn. When units arrived they found a 2-story single family home well involved in fire. It was quickly upgraded to a working fire assignment. The fire apparently started on the exterior of Side B and traveled up the side and into the second floor attic space and roof. Within minutes the whole roof was fully involved and threatening the houses on both sides.
Companies began setting up ladder pipes to protect the exposures on both sides which were now beginning to ignite from the radiant heat. Battalion Chief 2 then asked for a second alarm bringing additional units to the scene. The fire was brought under control within a half hour and the home suffered heavy damage to the roof and top floor. The homes on either side escaped with only melted siding on the exteriors.
The residents escaped without injuries. Fire Investigation was requested to determine the cause
