August 26, 2018: at 12:33 the District was dispatched for a smoke investigation in the area of 120 North Broadway. 28-302 (Tetreault) arrived in the area to find Smoke coming from a home on North Oak Ave Reported a "Working Fire."
Crews from Pitman and surrounding communities worked diligently to bring the fire under control. The fire was located in the basement of the home which quickly spread to the attic space due to the balloon frame construction.
During the fire fight the basement stairs collapsed sending the firefighters that were on the steps into the basement and sending one firefighter to the Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
An EMT on location was also sent to the Hospital with minor injuries later in the incident. Both injured responders were treated and released Sunday evening. Multiple other member were treated on scene for minor incident related injuries.
We thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during the incident and thank our surrounding departments for your quick response and hard work. (Pitman Fire Co. No. 1 Facebook Post)
