This morning units from the Baltimore City Fire Department responded to the 2500 block of Fairmount Ave for the report of a house fire. When units arrived they found heavy fire showing from the rear of a two story occupied rowhome. There was limited extension of the fire to the two homes connected to the originating fire location. All of the occupants were able to make it out safely and the fire was placed under control in approximately 40 minutes. There is going to be one family displaced as a result of the fire. Neighborhood services was requested to the scene to assist with shelter. Our units did a remarkable job of rescuing a cat from the fire. The cat was unconscious when units removed it from the fire and had requested animal control, but our members continued to perform life-saving measures and were able to revive that cat. There were no citizen or firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
