Around 1530 hours on Wednesday April 19, 2023 Fire Box 30-50 was dispatched for a dwelling fire in the 3100 block of Wilkens Avenue in southwest Baltimore. As companies were responding they could see heavy smoke from that area and when they arrived on the scene it first appeared that several houses were involved. Heavy fire and smoke was blowing out of the first floor and lapping under several porch rooves in the middle of the block. Battalion Chief 3, Michael Rudasil arrived and took Command, requested a working fire assignment followed by a second alarm seven minutes later.
The fire was contained to the one dwelling at 3126 Wilkens Avenue with minor extension to the two adjacent homes. It was brought under control within 30 minutes and there were no injuries reported. Animal Control was requested for a deceased dog on the premises.
