On December 7, 2022 around 0915 hours Box Alarm 14-50 was once again struck out for a building fire located at 414 South Monroe Street in Carrollton Ridge.
Arriving units were faced with heavy fire in a 3-story vacant store-front building. Initial reports claimed someone was trapped inside but exterior operations were initiated from the start as this building was previously on fire and structurally unsafe. Within several minutes fire was extending into Exposure D which seemed to be an active business so Battalion Chief 3 requested the working fire and the second alarm shortly thereafter.
As firefighters were working on an adjacent second floor deck in the rear there was a partial collapse inside of the original fire building. They were ordered down and continued pouring water onto the fire from the ground and aerial ladders.
The fire was brought under control in about two hours. No injuries were reported and Fire Investigation was on the scene.
