Shortly after 10:30PM a fire was reported in a warehouse on Baltimore's west side. As firefighters arrived in the 800 block of Franklintown Road heavy fire was through the roof of a one and two-story brick vacant warehouse building. Exterior operations were immediately initiated and ladder pipes were set up around the building. Access was limited to the building as it was surrounded by other larger buildings and set back well off of the main street.
A second alarm was sounded at 10:45 and the fire was knocked down in about an hour, but due to the heat and high humidity crews were rotated. A special call was asked for bringing two more engines and a truck company. The third alarm was filled out shortly thereafter bringing additional manpower for overhaul and crew rotation.
The fire was brought under control in about three hours. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
