Fire broke out in the Dorchester neighborhood of northwest Baltimore in the early morning of November 26, 2023. Around 0422 hours Fire Box 40-1 was dispatched for a reported dwelling fire in the 4000 block of Boarman Avenue. Companies arrived to find a vacant 2-story brick duplex heavily involved on the second floor and through the roof in the end of group unit.
After establishing their water supply exterior operations began. A working fire was requested by Battalion Chief 5, in command. The fire building was in questionable condition and firefighters remained outside while battling the blaze. The connected exposure on side B was unoccupied but under renovation. Firefighters got inside there to check the spread of the fire.
There was some outside extension next door and a second alarm was requested. Units continued to battle the flames until it was brought under control around 0600 hours. No injuries were reported. Because of the unsafe condition the involved end unit was torn down by Public Works crews the following day.
