Around noon on June 5, 2021 someone drove their car into the parking lot of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department building at 100 Court Street. Apparently having car trouble he stopped and exited his car when it burst into flames. 9-1-1 was called and engines from Westminster and Reese were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived on the scene the vehicle was fully involved.
Firefighters pulled lines and began to extinguish the fire. As they were fighting the fire burning gasoline began running from the gas tank causing a running fire away from the car and down across the parking lot. They were able to surround and contain it and after about 20 minutes were able to extinguish it with an additional foam line from Reese’s Engine Tanker 94.
There were no injuries reported and the car was a total loss.
