Around 1845 hours on August 31, 2023 Box Alarm 20-11 was dispatched for a dwelling fire at 3310 Carlisle Avenue in the Hanlon-Longwood section of northwest Baltimore.
As companies were responding heavy smoke was evident in the sky above the area. When they arrived on the scene the rear of the 2 ½ story frame single family structure was fully involved and making it’s way onto the roof. Firefighters entered the front of the house for an interior attack but were ordered out several minutes later when the roof partially collapsed above them and the structure looked as if it was becoming unstable.
All of the occupants had escaped safely before the arrival of the Fire Department. Incoming units had set up for exterior operations with ladder pipes and deck guns on the engine companies. Firefighters also operated handlines from the porches and from inside of both structures on either side of the fire building. There was some radiant heat damage to the two side exposures but units had kept the fire from igniting both houses. The fire was brought under control within 90 minutes and no injuries were reported.
