Shortly after 0200 hours in the morning of July 28, 2023 Baltimore County Dispatch sent Engine 13, 4, and truck 13 to investigate an automatic fire alarm being received from the Mercedes Benz of Catonsville located at 6631 Baltimore National Pike. Upon their arrival heavy smoke was showing throughout the showroom area and coming from the service bays in the rear of the building. At 0208 the remainder of the full Fire Box assignment (Box 13-27) was dispatched.
Arriving units laid several supply lines into the scene. Firefighters began forcing entry on several roll-up doors and found multiple vehicles in the service area on fire with heavy smoke conditions and low visibility throughout. Ten minutes later a working fire assignment was requested along with a special mutual aid response from Ellicott City Station 2 in Howard County.
The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and confined to the rear service area. Companies spent the next hour checking for extension and clearing smoke out of the entire dealership building. No injuries were reported.
